It is believed to be over 1,200 years old, making it older than the city of Patan.
The Jinalay is currently a two-storeyed temple.
The Pratishtha (consecration) of the temple was performed in 1844.
A Jirnodhar (renovation/restoration) of the Jinalay was completed in 2025.
According to local tradition, an extraordinary miracle used to occur in ancient times: The first person to enter the Jinalay each day would find an ancient 1-rupee coin in the hand of Bhagwan.
Even today, some of these ancient coins have been carefully preserved and are kept on display for devotees and visitors to see.
